With the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows coming out this weekend, and my family watching Avatar: The Last Airbender on DVD last night, I wondered what your favorite movie made from a book was.
Here's the ones I can think of in random order.
-Harry Potter
-The Last Airbender
-Lord of the Rings
-Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
-Pride and Prejudice
-Because of Winn Dixie
-The Princess Bride
-The Lovely Bones
-Memoirs of a Geisha
-The Notebook
-Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
-The Polar Express
-The Jungle Book
I'm sure there are many more that I can't remember right now. What ones do you like?

Of course my favorite on your list is The Princess Bride! Another one I really liked was The Bridge to Teribithia and Spiderwick Chronicles. Oh, and I've read that the Hunger Games movie rights have been sold. Yay!
ReplyDeleteHey, I forgot about Bridge to Teribithia and Spiderwick. I liked both of those. Of course I don't think many movies are better than the books. :) I know that Katherine Paterson's son was the one that directed Bridge to Teribithia. I saw her speak once about it. I can't wait to go and see the Hunger Games at the theater. I knew they were making into a movie, but when?
ReplyDeleteSo cool that you saw Katherine Paterson speak. Did you hear her in LA? I've heard that the HG movie is scheduled for 2011, but they don't have a cast just yet so that seems impossible. Yeah, I agree -- books are always better than the movies!
ReplyDeleteI had heard 2011, but you're right that seems impossible! I heard Katherine @ OU actually. They have abook sale and the authors speak. I think a lot of librarians and teachers go and there were some classes there, too. That was a few years back. Very inspiring!
